Website migration

Move your website off WordPress and keep your rankings.

We rebuild your site on Toolbox, redirect every old page to its new address, and switch it over with one DNS record. Your domain and email stay where they are. We're based in Denver and move sites for businesses anywhere in the US.

Why owners move

Plugins, updates and a slow site

A WordPress site needs updates every few weeks, a plugin update can break something, and after a few years nobody is sure which of the installed plugins are still needed.

Those plugins are also where the security problems are. Of the 11,334 WordPress security flaws found in 2025, 91% were in plugins, and about half of the serious ones were exploited within a day of going public (Patchstack, 2026).

Then there's speed. Most small business sites score in the forties on Lighthouse once the plugins, trackers and sliders have loaded, and a slow page loses visitors on a phone. Every Toolbox site ships at 100 on Lighthouse, with no plugins and no database or login on the public site.

What moves across

Everything that's working for you now

  • Your rankings

Every old address redirects to its new page, so Google and anyone with an old link land in the right place, and the rankings you've earned carry over.

  • Your pages and words

We bring your pages across and tidy them on the way. Pages that bring in work stay, and we'll suggest what to merge or drop.

  • Your enquiries

Forms work on every device, even with JavaScript off. Every enquiry and every tap on your number is counted, with the search or page that brought it.

  • Your domain and email

They stay with whoever you bought them from. Going live is one DNS record, and we tell you exactly what to click.

How it works

Three steps to move

  1. We map every page

We list every address your current site has, including old ones Google still knows about, and decide where each one goes on the new site.

  2. We build it on a preview

The new site goes up on a preview address first. Poke at it and tell us what to change. Your old site keeps running the whole time.

  3. One DNS record and you're live

When you're happy, one DNS record switches your domain over and every old address starts redirecting to its new page.

After the move

The first 30 days in Search Console

Google takes a few weeks to swap your old addresses for the new ones. During that time it's normal to see both in Search Console, and for a page's position to wobble before it settles.

What to watch

That Google is following the redirects and indexing the new pages, that the searches you were ranking for are still finding you, and that enquiries keep coming in. An old address that was missed gets a redirect of its own.

After that

The SEO agent reads your search data every week and proposes improvements, and you can review every change before it goes live. Changes that don't help are rolled back automatically, and every published version is kept, so nothing is lost.

FAQ

Questions about moving

Will I lose my Google rankings?

Not if it's done properly. Every old page redirects to its new address, so the rankings you've already earned carry over. Expect some movement for a few weeks while Google catches up.

Can you move a site from Wix or Squarespace too?

Yes. The process is the same for any existing site: map every page, rebuild it, redirect the old addresses.

Where is my site hosted after the move?

Pages are built ahead of time and served from Cloudflare's network in hundreds of cities, so a visitor gets the page from a server near them, whether they're in Denver or anywhere else.

How do I edit the site without WordPress?

Edit the words and photos in our editor and publish in about a minute, ask us to do it, or make changes by asking Claude or ChatGPT.
